Why now do I get along more with men than women?

When I was young my friends were always women. Now as I have become an adult I see that I can make friends mostly with men. I rather be friends with women bc its easier since men may end up wanting more than friendship. I try to be friends with women but they always end up using me and they are not a friend to me in return. There's a saying "if you want to make a friend, be a friend." I do this but I get burned in the end. Guys however don't do this to me and they later want to be more than friends which leaves me friendless. What should i do?
