Eye Infection?

I have an eye infection in my right eye that I went to the ophthalmologist for. he said that it was either strep or staff and that i had to be really careful not to let it spread. I am on 2 antibiotics and have been monitoring it a lot. Within the last hour it has started to burn and the skin around my eye is peeling. It almost feels like a headache, but on my eye. I just looked in the mirror and it is actually spreading more! The doctor said that if it bothers me a lot or if it starts to spread that I should not go to school and just monitor it. My mom thinks that I am just overreacting but i dont think that I should go to school tomorrow. What do you think I should do. And wat should I tell my mom so that she lets me stay home.
