The Botany of Desire?

Do you agree with Michael Pallen when he said about every one of the Plants of desire that they (the plants) decided to choose us to proliferate their species, or do you disagree and think that people choose plants with characteristics that are most desirable and grow more of them? Personally I think the guy is a Dumb or he's smoked too much pot.
