Will mr clean magic eraser (dampened) ruin my oak china cabinet? I must get nicotine stains off it?

I use magic eraser for a lot of things in my house; but not experienced that; so try just a small spot that can't be seen just to see how its going to work out; then if it works without ruining it; do the whole thing that needs to be done.
